POSITION SUMMARY:

The Content Lead is responsible for drafting and curating materials delivered by Technology Trainers. The Content Lead must learn and understand software development and related processes as well as instructional design principles. The Content Lead’s time is broken down across research and writing of new materials to be used in Revature training, editing, amassing articles from online and internal sources (content created by trainers), maintaining the Revature Content Repository, and drafting new courses and curricula for training. The Content Lead reports to the Director of Technology.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Instructional Design
  • Research new technologies and devise educational plans for teaching and learning those technologies for publication online and within internal tools
  • Draft learning goals and other materials for use in the Content library
  • Identify and select appropriate textbooks or other reference materials for classroom use
  • Collaborate with Principal Lead trainers on curriculum design
  • Defines curricular taxonomy and grouping of materials and content with respect to learning outcomes
  • Serve as a single point of contact for learning competencies that should be addressed in different trainings
  • Identify content needs and gaps in Revature library and recommend new topics
  • Create performance metrics on designed curricula and courses; identify areas of improvement
  • Identify bottlenecks in pace of training and learner comprehension
  • Suggest innovative ways to improve classroom and virtual classroom environments
  • Prepare technology briefs and copy used for advertising current training offerings for sales-related pitches as needed


  • Content Management
  • Review and approve current materials ensuring alignment with learning outcomes
  • Review platform capabilities and provide recommendations for new features or improvements for content management features
  • Organize writing schedules along with Director of Content to complete drafts of finished works within deadlines
  • Prepares reports on content produced/edited
  • Regularly monitors results and executes changes as needed
  • Defines benchmarks for performance standards
  • Content Curation & Creation
  • Research content for publication online and within internal tools
  • Write content for use such as lecture notes, blog articles, presentations, evaluations, and other learning materials used by training staff
  • Draft diagrams and other visual aids to depict complex ideas for use in classrooms
  • Collaborate with the Media Team and other business units to draft high-quality videos for promotional or educational use
  • Collaborate with other writing team members, including editors to polish works
  • Collect assets by searching online databases or gathering materials from training staff
  • Proofread and edit blog posts and other content
  • Ensure consistency in all published works
  • Evaluate new industry approaches for content creation and explore new mediums  

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Library Sciences, Instructional Design, Education, Engineering or similar field or proven work experience as a Content Writer, Copywriter, Teacher, Librarian, Curriculum Writer or similar role
  • Experience in writing materials especially for use in education
  • Experience teaching or tutoring a plus
  • Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Familiarity with course management systems

  • Strong writing skills
  • Ability to learn new tools and technologies
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with Git or Markdown a plus, but not required
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, information driven environment where productivity of the workforce is mission critical
  • Self-starter and drive to complete tasks without much oversight
  • Smart, creative, and persistent
